I made it back from cologne. Thanks to the vulcano I made new friends with lots of business guys in the night train from Cologne to Berlin…
I just want to point out some session (in order of appearance). If you miss one here I either missed it or found it crap… ;)

Second time (after 2007) for us being at FOTB in Brighton this year … and I just wanted to write a small roundup to let all of you who couldn’t be there in person know what you missed out on ;)
All in all it was great – again! Not so much about Flash and ActionScript but nonetheless there were definitely some speakers that totally blew my mind.

I’m back from the OFFF and had a wonderful time. First to say, that Lisbon is an amazingly pretty city. I actually plan to come back sometime later this year and recommend everyone to visit this city.
Like always on conferences there are ups and downs. Besides the obvious facts like lame speakers and organization issues it’s sometimes hard (at least for me) to keep the pressure up a whole conference day especially since having loots of beers at night seems to be an integral element of those conferences… ;)

Monday I got back from the MadinSpain conference that took place in Madrid Spain. We had a wounderful time hearing some nice talks, drinking brilliant spanish beer and taking part in the strange madrid nightlife.
The conference was anounced as “International Design Event” and we were a bit suprised when we noticed that only one third of the talks were given in english. They gave away headsets which we plugged inside a box next to the seat. So we felt a bit like in a UN conference…
Highlights
Summary
We hope that the conference will become more international in the future. I’m totally cool with spanish speaking speakers. But a more international audience would be nice (there were mostly madrid design students), since the networking thing is obviously a big part of this conference thing.

We are back from Brighton …. and it really was a blast!
Despite the time of year the weather was great – especially after last year’s monsoon-like rains on the coast of Britain. We arrived in Brighton on Monday morning and went straight to the beautiful venue – the Brighton Dome. On the first day we attended some really interesting sessions:
The first party was supposed to be in the seaside casino in Brighton – but after waiting for about 2 hours to get in (w/o drinks …) we decided it was time to check the local bars :)
The second day was as good as the first. Mentionable sessions were:
- Craig Swann‘s “Perceptive Interactions + Alternative Interfaces”
- Mario had fun dancing with his gloves during his “2D or not 2D that is the question” session
- Robert Hodgin didn’t really talk about Flash but his (mainly) Processing topics were off-the-wall
Because we already saw Andre Michelle‘s “Klangfabrik” in Cologne the other day, we decided to stick with Neville Brody – a good choice, because he really showed some amazing works. The last session just blew our minds: Jared Tarbell had ace after ace up his sleeve.
Ooooh … i almost forgot to mention the “inspired sessions” from Erik Natzke and Brendan Dawes – they really were … inspiring :D We just laid back, had some beer and listened to them telling about their most recent masterpieces – thumbs up!
So, all in all we hope to get back to Brighton next year – and maybe next time we’ll even be able to play some roulette or poker ;)
